(Fun fact: there is not enough money in the game as of Far Port to upgrade the Liberty's shield to range 4. In a lot of play-throughs, I do one Ryder or the other but not usually both. Upgrading the shield range on Liberty and Bianca can be good if you can afford it, because it adds flexibility to your combat formation, which switches the constraint to flak coverage. If you don't move a Ryder much after the first turn of battle, you probably don't need to invest in more energy for them, unless doing so lets you use a particularly useful ability more times per turn (like on Bianca). Deciding how much energy each Ryder should have depends on how you use them and how much their abilities/attacks/movement costs to use. Having 120 energy is generally good, but not every Ryder needs it. Using Liberty's Repair ability as often as possible (like, almost every turn) helps you save money and CP by not using the drones except in emergencies. You're better off putting that money into upgrades. In my experience playing First Arrival (v4.2a), having more than 1 or 2 Repair Drones on hand is unnecessary, even on Hard difficulty. With the episode 2 teasers at the end, I am eager to play it :), will the stats of ships and ryders will be transferable from episode 1 to 2 ? The animations post-battle were huge but I will not spoil ). Kinetics does more damage than laser on capital ships (and maybe Ryders too), I've tried when there was only one battleship left to use Liberty's Shutoff then taking him with laser but even with its shields down, I was doing less damage than with kinetics if you are low on CP, use Liberty's Repair use Bianca's aim down a lot, it can save your ass : I only use Attack Up once and use her Kinetics in the last turns When the frigates were gone, I made a defensive formation and destroyed one ennemy ship one by one focusing on the nearest. Iv' made a save during each turn's beginning but I had used them only when the Sunrider got destroyed. The harder was in turn 3 when the pact frigates arrived but I dispatched them before turn 6 when the cruiser pops-up ^^. įinally, I beat the mission in 13 turns but I lose one Alliance cruiser, the Seraphim and the Phoenix. Ps : my worst experience on that mission was my latest try : The Blackjack, The Phoenix and one solar cruiser were destroyed on Pact's turn one ^^. I have no saves previous the turn 1 of that battle or old saves which load me a couple mission before and some of them where saved before the last 4.2a update so they are bugged. I wonder if I have to begin an new game to better improve my upgrade's choices or if I can win with that config. So far I did not yet manage to beat this mission even with destroying the carrier (even if that point is an improvement comparing to my previous tactics and I recommend it) but since the video's owner has succefully beat this mission on hard mode, I know it is achievable. One of the best tactics I found is to warp near the two carriers (thanks for the video I saw on the "side mission" thread), have their flak disabled by Liberty and launch at them a rocket, Seraphim finish the second carrier with an awakened kinetic shot (unlike the video's owner, I do not enough damage to destroy the two carriers without Seraphim's assist) then you warp again on a place covered by ally's flaks and shields because Pact will focus their attacks upon the Sunrider. so far I do not remember upgrading the weapon's energy costs or damage output nor the shield or flak protection HP : Sunrider 1500, Blackjack 600, Seraphim 375, Phenix 300, Bianca 400, Liberty 475, Paladin 900, I don't remember upgrading the HP but I can be wrong. I have only 2725 Command Points so options are limited for that battle Sunrider has 2 missiles slots and 2 rocket slots upgraded to quantum warheads, I have bought also 8 repair drones which was a mistake because. Bianca and Liberty have their shields increased to range 2 All ships and ryders have 120 EN except the Paladin (because I did not see I could upgrade it before the battle) and the alliance cruisers. Here is a topic to share tips and experience about this mission.
